The purpose of SNO is to promote professional and social unity among the student nurses on campus; promote among student nurses an understanding of and interest in local, national, and professional organizations; to act as the official representative of the student body of the NIU School of Nursing; and to promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities. The benefits of becoming a member of this organization are that it provides students with many resources; students can gain community service hours, obtain leadership roles, plus it looks good on a resume.
