Statement Of Purpose: National Junior Honor Society

Improved Essays
I have always had an attitude of a leader. In sixth grade I was apart of student council up until 7th grade. Towards the end of my seventh grade year I applied to be in NJHS or National Junior Honor Society and in May I was inducted. I ran to be Vice President of my NJHS and throughout my eighth grade year I served my class as their VP. All throughout middle school I enjoyed being in the position to lead others and to be an example. As a result of my newly found passion, I decided to apply for Ellison High School's Leadership Academy going into high school as a freshman. Each grade level in the academy are assigned different positions. I you are fortunate enough to begin the academy all four year you will have experienced all four leadership positions. As a senior you are assigned jobs that require the most responsibility. My job as the class president, was to make sure all my fellow senior classmates were accounted for. As they came in the building and they left the building. I was told by on of my peers who was in charge of me, to be available for anything. Essentially, my job was to sit around and wait until i was needed. Despite how well controlled a leader might seem in face of chaos that leader will always need a helping hand whether they want it or not. I was that helping hand to the student leader over our leadership conference. In the wake of the event, all the schools had arrived and the students were in their assigned groups ready to start the games. The games ran twenty minutes and a ten minute debrief for a total of 30 minute per game. After the thirty minutes are up the leadership academy students take their assigned group of kids to their next game. Each group had a schedule they were expected to follow. I made sure that the leader of the conference had the music ready to signal the groups to change station. He did not have the music available at that time. Without the music some groups did not move to the next game resulting in lost time for the next round. With the information i had i decided to take it upon myself to make sure everyone had a schedule of when they were suppose to transition i also made sure every group was in the appropriate game at that given time. Many did not transition and many were not at their designated game. This was a huge problem because the time
