I am a dedicated student, daughter, sister, and friend. I do my best to be the best in all aspects of my life. Despite my aspirations, I learn how I can do and be better each and every day. Life has given me innumerable opportunities and challenges; I would like to think that I have met each with dignity, understanding, and a willingness to learn. Life has presented me with opportunities and challenges, but I have also set goals (both big and small) for myself. My biggest goals include earning a Masters degree, traveling, and learning about new cultures.

I want to earn a degree. Admittedly, I am still unsure of just what I want to study. However, Tulane offers a huge range of degree programs, many of which I am interested in. For example, English, Anthropology, and Political Sciences are all fields I could very easily see myself excelling, loving, and having an outstanding career in. Additionally, I know that the wonderful advisors will help guide me to the path of excellence. All in all, I know Tulane will help me earn my degree. Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

Tulane is known for its amazing medical program and the vibrant New Orleans city life that surrounds the campus – these attributes alone made me fall in love with Tulane. A couple of weeks ago, when I had a chance to visit the campus, I not only fell in love with what I read and heard, but what the University is about – making me feel welcomed and apart of a community . While on campus I walked around with a law student, Anjane, who also attended Tulane for undergrad. She gave me the “real” on campus life, and what to expect if I attended Tulane. She kept on reiterating how well I would fit in, and how much there was to do.…

While invariable characteristics of a person tend to remain the same over one’s lifetime, variable characteristics and environmental influences vary throughout a lifetime.…

It was love at first sight—only, I didn’t know it at the time. I flew into New Orleans the summer of my senior year to visit family, not to visit Tulane. I didn’t even decide to visit Tulane until I was in a Best Buy parking lot on Veterans Memorial Boulevard. The first thing that was really enthralling about Tulane was your generosity; it was clear to me, when I pulled up the website on my phone and found that we could get a discounted hotel rate for the night—the Hotel Monteleone was wonderful, by the way. I visited Tulane, got lost, was offered a free beverage and briefly fell in love with my very pretty tour guide.…

Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals. During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines. Fascinating as it sounds, I was always intrigued to understand why fruits and vegetables spoil or often cause food poising in humans. Although, when I questioned my mother why these fruits spoil, she responded it was due to "little bugs," which was not a sufficient response.…
