Statement Of Purpose: Fan Demographics

As we all know, the Cleveland Browns clinched a losing football season finishing 1-15, the worst record in franchise history, but despite the team’s performance on the field, they excelled in evolving the tenure of the team’s social media activity by paying rigorous attention to fan data. Digital marketing is a tool that when used wisely, changes the entire experience for fans and teams. Creating a process to evaluate data while still moving forward, staying flexible enough to use new tools, is often the fine line of digital marketing.

My interest for data analytics began in my Managerial Informations System class when I realized that I could combine it with my passion for sports media. I learned that in order to target audiences and deliver information to develop and maintain relationships, it is crucial to understand fan demographics and psychographics, but in order to do THAT we have to rely on data! The rise of sports analytics and data mining has given ESPN a need for innovative ways to succesfully create a positive outlook for fan engagement and I believe that I have the passion and insight for the Measurement Operations and Strategy Internship position. …show more content…
My passion for sports didn’t start through playing and watching sports growing up, it actually began when I was looking for a way to integrate my passion for media AND sports, and it is the main reason why I am dual majoring in Advertising and Physical Culture and Sports as well as pursuing certificates in Sports Media and Business
