For the majority of my life before coming to Texas A&M, I knew that I had to figure out a way to get here. Getting a college education would be my escape route to deviate away from becoming a low income family like my mother and her previous generations. My mother did the best she could to take of her three children by herself, but like many single parent households she struggled to do so. Due to my mom being the sole bread winner, there was often not enough money to maintain our household. I remember many days when we were only able to eat one meal a day that consisted either of half a chicken sandwich shared between my sister and I, or just a pack of saltine crackers.…

I am a product of immigrant parents who have worked diligently to guarantee myself the opportunity I have now. I am a nontraditional student, who like some people were forced to make difficult life decisions after the economy had plummeted, but today I stand as a Georgia State student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Managerial Science. They study the way animals behave and they try and figure out how, and why they behave the way they do. It’s a very well chosen occupation if you love working with animals. After comparing the Ohio State University, Auburn University, and Texas A&M University, based on hours required to graduate, tuition costs, and required classes needed, Auburn University would best suite me to set out and become an Animal behaviorist. Auburn University is the best choice because the hours required are reasonable and, tuition cost is much lower than my other school choices.…

Narrative Essay It was at the beginning of my senior year when my counselor started urging my senior class to start thinking about what universities we wanted to apply to. At the time, I did not know which universities I wanted to apply to or what were the differences between a Cal State, a UC, and a Private University. I did not even know about financial aid. My decision to apply to Western Washington University comes from my inspiration to achieve what I envision my self-becoming someday. Up to this point in my college education, life has been and up and down ride, definitely not what I had envisioned. But the one thing I’ve always kept true to myself is who I see myself becoming in the future. My senior year of high school was filled with questions of where I saw myself in five or ten years, and I thought I had a perfect idea of what that would be. Two developmental milestones that I have faced during my twenty-two years of life, thus far, are beginning college and ending college. Starting college in particular was a developmental milestone because it was different than anything I have ever experienced and for my family to experience as well. I am the first generation in my family to attend college. Both of my parents went straight into the work force after they graduated high school, and were not encouraged by their parents to attend college. I have two older siblings who decided not to attend college, because they wanted to go straight into the work force, and long term did not want to have to worry about paying back student loans.…
