Statement Of Purpose: AP Chemistry

Decent Essays
Throughout the day I look forward to going to chemistry and understanding what we are learning. Chemistry continues to be fun even though there are sometimes challenges of not understanding it or getting confused. The labs in the classroom are incredibly interesting and never fail to amaze me I chose to pursue higher level coursework by taking AP Chemistry although it is challenging, I do not regret taking it. It showed me how rigorous and fascinating it is to learn about this science. Chemistry opened the door to a new realm of science that I could explore. Having this much fun in chemistry definitely made me want to pursue a career or major in the sciences. I used to like math way more than science and I always wanted to be a mathematician

My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

I will be taking general chemistry and biology—both are the foundation of their field. When I master the material taught in those classes, I will be better prepared for my future courses in chemistry and biology. Since I was in elementary school, my father emphasized the importance of understanding the material rather than just knowing and getting the correct answer. I followed his advice, but I did not actually see the difference between knowing and understanding until spring 2014.…

In my American government class, we use the term political socialization to describe the influence one’s family has on their own political identity. Although the political aspect of political socialization remains exclusive to the term, the concept that families have a profound influence on the social development of children is wide-ranging, even helping explain people's perceived value of a college education. In my own life, the expected influence of my family's experience with higher education on my own outlook never took. My family's own experience has presented me with both opportunities and challenges in pursuing my educational goals as well as testing the integrity of the goals.…

AP Chemistry has made me realize that you need to work hard for the things you want. AP Chemistry is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was full of hard concepts and ideas that I could not seem to understand. Most times, I stayed up studying for tests until three in the morning. My teacher had tests that were based on past AP exams and in order to reach the highest score, a five, you usually needed to get a minimum percentage of seventy percent.…

This love for the science influenced me to take upon myself the challenge of AP Chemistry. So far I have further developed and honed my skills.
