With the Apocalypse finally upon us, it was a matter of minutes before my sorority sisters and I would take the stage. It was the night of the National Pan-Hellenic step show on my university’s campus, and this year’s theme was “The Apocalypse: Only the Strong Survive.” Any normal competitor would be reviewing the steps in their head, but after noticing my sweaty palms and rapid heart beat, I was distracted by my rising cortisol levels. IMSA can be described in three words, a school, a culture, a society. It is like an ecosystem that brings students from all over Illinois for one sole cause, to learn. These students come from different (races, cultures, financial backgrounds, future goals, perceptions) and different expectations that truly recognize IMSA’s diverse setting. When these students are attending, they don’t leave after school to go home and relax, but rather, they live together. This allows more time for students to get to know each other's viewpoint and their reasoning.…
