Statement Of Purpose: A Career As A Registered Nurse

I have changed my mind on what I want to be when I grow up multiple times. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a singer, and then a OG/GYN, and then a counselor. I think I have finally decided between three occupations which are, registered nurse, chiropractor, or a plastic surgeon. Each of these careers are in the health field, yet they are all very different. These careers have different education requirements, different salary’s, and different jobs all together.
A registered nurse, or RN, is one of many different types of nurses. To be a registered nurse, you must have at least an Associate degree in nursing (ADN), or a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN). An Associate degree takes two years to earn while a bachelor’s degree takes four years. Being an RN means you provide patient care, you educate your patients and their families about their conditions, and you provide emotional support to the patients and their families. The duties of being a registered nurse vary based on where you work. An RN can assist in medical procedures and operate medical equipment. Becoming a plastic surgeon requires a lot of schooling. First, you have to earn a bachelor’s degree, then go to and graduate from medical school, acquire a medical license and finally, you have to complete a plastic surgeon residency. Plastic surgeons usually make around $400,000 annually. Plastic surgeons have hectic work days because their job is so important. A day at work for a plastic surgeon could mean reconstructing broken facial bones, reconstructing skin on burn victims, or reconstructing misshapen bones from a birth defect.
