A registered nurse, or RN, is one of many different types of nurses. To be a registered nurse, you must have at least an Associate degree in nursing (ADN), or a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN). An Associate degree takes two years to earn while a bachelor’s degree takes four years. Being an RN means you provide patient care, you educate your patients and their families about their conditions, and you provide emotional support to the patients and their families.
