Her first day on the job she said she was overly excited and confident that she knew she would have her students in tip top shape but after about an hour into her class she said “That I realized that I was no match for a class full over energetic group of five year olds.” After that first day on the job she second guessed if being an educator was something that she really wanted to do. While still teaching she tried to do a startup business of being a real estate agent, “In the 90’s real estate was a growing and thriving business and I wanted to see if there was any room for me,” she said with a smile. In the core of being a real estate agent and a struggling with the idea if she wanted to be a teacher she also decided try teaching other grade levels to see if that was a better fit for her.
Ms. Mabry, finally found her niche as a third grade teacher, she didn’t realize that she really enjoyed being a third grade teacher until about five years after being a third grade teacher. She described the feeling of ease of getting up for work every day, “Not to say that I do not like children in other grade levels, but I felt a connection with seven and eight year olds over the years, they enabled me to really educate and help them understand concepts that are needed for promotion to the next grade level,” she
