Stargirl Characteristics

Decent Essays
While reading Stargirl, I have noticed that I am similar to Leo in many different ways. We both are a little too worried about what others think about us. This said, we both try too hard to fit in. Sometimes, this trait influences some of our decisions. Leo obviously likes Stargirl, but doesn’t want anyone to know because he’s worried about what the rest of Mica High is going to think. Maybe I’m not as worried as Leo is, but we definitely share this trait. Another trait we have in common is that we have a good heart. We both have a pretty strong sense of what is right and what is wrong. The few chapters involving Stargirl’s appearance on Hot Seat, are a great example of this. Leo is a bit indecisive about whether he wants Stargirl on the show.

Kent Harufs Plainsong is an inspiring novel centered around seven characters and their battles with isolation and hopelessness. Through different accounts in each chapter, you hear of seven people’s day to day struggles and the effects it has on their lives. One character who really embodied the theme of the book, was Victoria Roubideaux, or Vicky for short. Vicky, a pregnant 17-year-old girl, wasn’t able to hide the fact that she was pregnant, and was thrown out of her house by her mom. To make things worse, the father of her baby abandoned her as well.…

Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. This movie reflects the daily lives of six southern women with different personalities and careers. Being a southern girl I could see myself in one of the characters. M'Lynn, Truvy, Annelle, Claree, Shelby and my favorite Ouiser all had a unique personality but are alike in so many ways which is the love they have for their families, one another, and the support for each other during family crisis. They laughed together, cried together and even made jokes about one another but as friends they always made the best out of all obstacles that crossed them rather it was a happy occasion or tragic.…

The characters in the show Noah and Saskia are represented well, as they show honest depictions of typical teenage behaviour, which the audience can relate to dramatically to as the intended viewers are supposed to be in that age range. They are non-binary, or non-black or white characters. This means that the characters have depth and are not just subject to either being completely good or bad. They have traits of both negative and positive characters and we can see this in their dialogue and the audio-visual features of the show.…

Kohlberg stated that people’s moral reasoning develops in stages. In My Girl the protagonist’s moral development is seen through her actions. Vada would be classified in the “Preconventional Morality” level, stage five “Individualism and Exchange” which is marked by the idea of being good so as to attain rewards and to avoid punishments. If the reward is greater then the risk, the actions are justified. Rather than seeing herself as part of society and wanting to contribute to it, Vada is focused on her individuality and how society can give her what she wants.…
