Life Is So Short
“Just be happy, and if you can’t be happy, do things that make you happy or do nothing with the people who make you happy.” (Earl). Nonfiction is a way to tell history that can be engaging. It shows thoughts or events that have happened in the past. When people read a nonfiction book, the writing captures them and allows them a realistic view of the topic. it also, shows that vast or miniscule events come and go and not to dwell on the past. This Star Won’t Go Out by Esther Grace Earl is an autobiography about a girl who was diagnosed in 2006 with thyroid cancer and how she lived with her cancer. When she died on August 25th, 2010 she was smiling and laughing in the room, even though she couldn’t stand up. She had a bountiful amount of people from Catitude and also the author, John Green in the room for her final hours on the Earth. When people know they are going to die in the next few days or hours they aren’t all happy or bubbly. They are usually super depressed and just waiting ‘til they draw their final breath.
This book is a interesting book to read, and it shows the thought process of a girl diagnosed with cancer. Also, it shows that cancer is one of the worst terminal diseases that human beings can contract and she is still a jolly and a positive person. If she can be positive, then so can this generation even if there is not as many chemical issues with teenagers brain as they claim their is. This book was an incredible book, but some people won’t be a fan of the style of the writing.
