For years I have been watching the Star Wars movies, never thinking I would actually see one for the first time in theaters. The last Star Wars movie to hit theaters in my life time was Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in 2005, and it was stinker. If you ask anyone who considers themselves a fan of the Star Wars movies, they will tell you the first trilogy was some of the best cinema ever created, and the second trilogy was in comparison just completely awful. In fact a lot of people wish the second set didn’t even happen. It is seen as a blemish on the other wise complete pure skin of the Star Wars franchise. Back to my point, after the last bomb of a trilogy I figured I may never see a Star Wars movie in theaters in my life. October 30th 2012 was a day that all of that changed. It was announced that Lucas Films had sold the rights of Star Wars to Disney……for $4 billion dollars…..with a B!!!! The exact second I read about this, my heart filled with joy, because I knew. The whole point of this movie is to provide newer and younger characters that the franchise will hinge on. I give all the credit in the world to producer and writer J.J. Abrams. Abrams found a way to bring a trio of young characters with rich back stories and inject them straight into the blood steam of a galaxy far far away. The First Order has taken over of the role of villains of the galaxy, and as far as the movie showed, their sole purpose is to remove the Resistance from existence. Now the movie didn’t exactly explain who the First Order are, or how they came to power, but I assume that is one of the mysteries that will be answered in the next movies to come.
