Mythology?s Connection With ?Star Wars? ?Star Wars? and mythology connect throughout the entire series because of the heroes portrayed in both topics, the way the characters are viewed, and the fictional characters involved with both ?Star Wars and mythology. There are many people in the United States who are fans of ?Star Wars.? The series has impacted many people?s lives, most of which are in a positive way. ?Star Wars?, is a movie series created by George Lucas in 1977, which started a new breed of science fiction in the movie business. The series also set and since broken box-office records for the money each movie has made after its release. Pop culture, …show more content…
looks at many of the characters and even the creators in the series as Gods because of their high power shown in and behind the movies. For example, Darth Vader is looked at someone who is a God because of the power that he shows and an extreme fan would look at him as a type of God (Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed). It can be inferred that Darth Vader is looked at as a God because all of the attention that is thrown his way by the fans. The connection that this serves to mythology is that sometimes the ultimate evil villain is even looked at as a God (Lyden). All of the fans of the series like Darth Vader and the fans that are extremists view him as a God because of the control that he shows. Also, Darth Vader has a large impact and displays a lot of power in the movies, which relates to Gods and mythology because the Gods in mythology, like Zeus and Hades, have a lot of impact and control what goes on. Both Zeus and Hades control what happens in the sky and underground. Similar to how the directors are looked at with high standards from other directors and can somewhat control what goes on in show business. The moviemakers do this because they want to have people look at the movie differently than the normal Sci-fi/action movie. George Lucas and J.J. Abrams do not want ?Star Wars? to be a clich? movie that only the good characters are looked at positively. If the evil villain is viewed as a positive, powerful, impactful, and receives good reviews, then the movie is not clich? and the moviemaker?s goal is accomplished. If the directors were to make the movies the same as most of the movies that are made today, then the series would not be as popular as it is today because of the common characteristics it would share with other movies. The directors, George Lucas and J.J. Abrams are also looked at as Gods by extremists because they have created an idea that has lasted and will last throughout generations (Star Wars: the Legacy Revealed).
