Star Wars Persuasive Speech

Star Wars fans won't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to relive their favorite galactic adventure. In a huge Disney event last Sunday, Harrison Ford revealed plans for a Star Wars theme park and how fans will soon be able to walk in the "iconic locations" of the film franchise, just like he did while playing Hans Solo.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the actor appeared at ABC's Disneyland 60, a live TV event celebrating Walt Disney's first ever park.

Ford began his speech by saying, "Star Wars is, for lack of a better word ... awesome. I'm so blessed that I had the opportunity to be a part of it. To walk in these iconic locations. And soon, you'll be able to do that as well. Not in a galaxy far, far away, but in a place close to home."

Visitors to the Star Wars theme park will be able to ride a Millennium Falcon, meet outer space residents and droids and experience what it's like to be in a battle between the Resistance and the First Order.

The new rides will be constructed at Disneyland in Anaheim, California and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The size of the Star Wars area in Anaheim is expected to be around 14 acres.

This isn't the first time such a theme park has been announced. Last August, according to a Techno Buffalo report, Disney announced how the company is bringing a Star Wars theme park into America. Bob Iger, Disney CEO and chairman, proclaimed the exciting news to over 7,000 fans at Disney's D23 Expo.

"We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever," Iger said. "These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the

Walt Disney had a vision. He imagined an amusement park where children and their parents could enjoy rides and have fun together. But, when he was in an amusement park in the early twentieth century, he noticed that there were only random assortments of roller coasters, and how sanitation wasn't the greatest importance. Walt wanted a place where children and families could have fun together in a clean, orderly and fun way, and at an affordable price. He knew exactly what he wanted, and it would be called Disneyland.…

He quickly came up with the idea of creating an amusement park, which would satisfy both children and adults’ imagination and love of fantasy. This idea was put on hold through the Second World War, but eventually came to life on July 17th 1955, and would be known as Disneyland. This was one of Walt Disney’s most magical and personal projects, but it was conceived during an ambiguous and puzzling time of the American history. While some scholars believe that the amusement park is a place allowing individual choice and personal transformation through one’s imagination, others opted for a more cynical view, seeing a degree of consensual control and surveillance at the heart of its creation. Disneyland was not only an incredible success, but, during a time plagued by the nuclear scare and a communist threat, it became a beacon of hope, fun and adventure for the American…
