Being the first film of the series, “The Terminator” did not make a lot of money in total given that it had little hype going into it and it co-starred a relative unknown with some German sounding name that it turns out was Austrian. However, considering it only had a budget of $6.4 million and it made $78 million worldwide according to the Wikipedia page about the franchise, the producers were no doubt happy with the result. “Terminator 2” was the highpoint of the franchise in terms of box office draw and overall awesomeness.…

Indeed, quiz show provides a feeling of everyone has equal opportunities to win no matter what job, talent, class, gender or race they are through doing same quizzes. As Holmes has argued about Fiske's explanation of games and rituals, games separate out winners from contestants as different, but rituals bringing different individuals in same levels and implying commonality (2008, p.93). In Mastermind, rituals fill in that idea by reducing individual's differences and make them compete at same starting line as equal competitor. For example, the host askes each contestant's name, job and the specialist area they choose to do the quiz before they start to answer, and tells competitors that each of them have equal time to answer the quizzes which…

As people become more aware of their ethnic background, many things we take as normal life begin to be rather offensive. One of the biggest issues for native americans is the football team for Washington DC, the Redskins. Originally the Boston Braves, in 1933 they changed their name to the Washington Redskins despite it’s head coach ,‘Lone Star’ Dietz, being native american as well of some of the players. Section A: One of the primary conflicts in Blade Runner is trying to identify real humans versus “replicants” (this is a challenge both for characters in the film and the film’s viewers). Without an identifier or test to determine who is human, how do we determine what makes a human “human”? Or what makes someone inhuman” (a monster)? How do you think Viktor Frankenstein would answer these questions? When we think of replicants, in movies or in books, we make them in our image.…

Teachers loved calling me a contrarian when I was younger. Back then, I loved to argue with people. I needed my opinions to be acknowledged and my ten-year-old voice to be heard, so it didn’t matter to me what exactly my opinions were, and what my voice was saying. As I’ve grown up, I’ve formed my own original opinions and ideas to share. However, arguing isn’t always effective, and my persuasion skills are far from perfect.…

The article I read by Karrie Ann Snyder, entitled A Vocabulary of Motives: Understanding How Parents Define Quality Time was about how quality time is a phrase used at times to describe parenting success, but not everyone has the same definition of this word. The article describes the use of the Sloan 500 Family Study, in discovering the three main categories that can be used to define quality time with the family (Snyder, 2007, p. 320). Snyder’s main argument is that quality time is a highly debated topic that is often seen in the media today, but no one has ever bothered to specifically define the term, therefore leaving parents with contradicting information (Snyder, 2007, p. 320). The data was collected through “a comprehensive study of over 500 families…
