Star Girl By Jerry Spinelli

The book i chosen to read over the summer was the book called Star Girl. Star girl was written by Jerry Spinelli. Furthermore the main idea of the story is there this girl who is named star girl decides to switch from being home schooled to being in a public school. Star Girl was a free spirited girl. And she was different from the typical teenage girls which were portrayed in this story. For a while a lot of people hated her for her uniqueness. However she eventually tried and changed her ways to become popular but in the end it just backfired.

Furthermore, the prompt i decided to choose was a major conflict that had occurred throughout this book. The whole conflict was Star Girl being liked by very few people in the school.

In the book, Maniac Magee, Jerry Spinelli uses detailed thoughts, actions, and dialogue to develop the character, Earl Grayson. Spinelli used many of these things to make Grayson come off as a sedulous person. One way Grayson is sedulous is that he worked very hard to achieve his goal of reading. A part of the text reads, ¨Sometimes he got m and n mixed up, but the only one that gave him trouble was c. It reminded him of a bronc some cowboy dared him to ride in his Texas League days.¨…

I read Jesse Andrews’ book, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. The book was a good read for me. The book was very well written and he was able to make it humorous which is hard. The book was also very relatable. In a lot books that revolve around high school, they tend to be overdone or even unrealistic but Jesse Andrews wrote about high school just like it is.…

People determine who a person is just by looking at them and then sort each other into categories based on a glance. We've all been out in public and whispered something cruel about a stranger walking by into our friend's ear. Is it right? Absolutely not! W.E.B Du Bois wrote five historical novels in his time, and Dark Princess his most known and of the five. The story was written to express the beauty of colored people around the world. Du Buis wrote this story as a fictional one because he couldn't figure out how to accurately write it non-fictionally. When the novel was first puplished it was not well liked by many people because they felt it was a failed attempt at social reaism and that it wasn't an honest piece of work. Du Bois really wanted to express the pure beauty of African Americans and was personally very pleased with his work.…

The book I read was The Perks of Being a Wallflower, written by Stephen Chbosky. In my personal opinion this novel has done an amazing job at getting it’s message across to it’s readers. When you get near the end of the book you begin to realize that throughout the novel the author writes important pieces of information to build up to it’s conclusion. I think it’s important that he did this because once you get to the end of the book you better understand all the situations that occurred. For example, Charlie has never been very comfortable with relationships or sexual attraction, so later on as readers you start to comprehend the reasons why.…

In the Novel Under A Cruel Star, Heda Margolius Kovaly sheds light on the repercussions of not only the German concentration camps in World War 2, but also shows how the War led to the adoption, practice, and repercussions of a hostile communist government. In this novel courage, not only in a power to survive, but in a power to provide for family, is the most prevalent issue brought about in Hedas retelling of her time in the concentration camps and her time as wife to a communist official. One of the most endearing facts about Heda in her retelling of her experiences is that fact how despite everything that she had observed, participated in, and been subjected to she still remained “human” in that she was not misguided by hate and anger but…

Wild, this book in itself, was a journey for me; at first not appreciating the book nor the story it held, but after reading it I saw why it is highly talked about. Not only was the story interesting, but it was the way Cheryl Strayed wrote it that made it come to life. Wild does not just tell a journey, but makes you feel as if you are on the journey yourself. Strayed wrote Wild from her life story, but almost each sentence had some kind of parallel meaning to it. The main theme I thought that was an important one was how Cheryl carried a burden with her throughout her life and used the PCT to overcome it.…
