Fur sold at a retail store has two purposes, being either for insulation or for the sake of fashion. They are classified: “Fancy furs are those demanded for the luster and beauty of their pelts and are fashioned by furriers into garments. Staple furs are sought for the quality of their wool, which is the short, softer hair” (Carlos). No matter the type of animal or type of desired, the methods are common throughout. The farms follow a routine breeding pattern, killing the creatures after birthing the offspring.
