I am interesting in applying to PLFSOM because I have a desire to ultimately become a primary care physician that works in underserved communities. Coming from a rural area, I know what a lack of providers in a region can do to a community. I have spent a lot of time in border towns since my dads family is originally from Mexico and I have been able to see first hand that even the biggest of border towns still has a very big proportion of their population that is underserved. Right now, I already use my Spanish to help the Spanish speaking patients that we see at our clinic but my Spanish medical terminology is not as strong as I would like. Being able to get my medical education from a school so close to the border would help me become the…

A letter from John William Law shows the truth of World War I from an experienced Canadian soldier, who has taken his turn at the front line trenches. Law writes about his perspective of current events in the war, the harsh unknown realities of war, and new, unfamiliar truths of a life left at home. John’s positive thoughts on the Battle of Vimy and questioning thoughts of the new American troops shows the attitude of many Canadian soldiers in 1917. Law describes an American he encountered as, “the typical bluffing flag waving patriotism type and took delight in rubbing our fur the wrong way. It doesn't do.”…
