Stanford history started when it was founded in 1885 by Leland and Jane Stanford in memory of their only child who died at the age of fifteen do to typhoid fever. It's original name was The Leland Stanford Jr University but knows it's known as Stanford University. Stanford University's motto is”The wind of freedom blows”.
