Imagine being encountered with two different doors. You may choose which door to enter. One is labelled love and the other is labelled hate. "When I was young, my father used to say, 'If you are alive, there is hope for a better day and something good to happen. If there is nothing good left in the destiny of a person, he or she will die.' I thought about these words during my journey, and they kept me moving even when I didn't know where I was going. Those words became the vehicle that drove my spirit forward and made it stay alive." (Beah 54).…

But in the end there’s no right or wrong answer just a lot of opinions. There will always be people who disagree with you and that’s normal, because no matter how hard you try they will also have their own belief that they will stand by. Just like voting for a president people will choose one just out of what they believe in. And when you stand up for what you believe in make sure you remember that it's benefiting you and others. So don't ever give up on standing up for what you believe in.…

Crucible Response “It is better to die for what you believe in rather than lie to save your own life,” is a statement I already live by. To follow what you believe in, no matter what it may be is important. It gives your life purpose and meaning and your own significance. If you lie to save your life, are you really following what you believe in? The scenario is that you believe in fighting for freedom and equality for all.…

Regarding the second half of verse 24, “he (The Antichrist) will distribute plunder, booty and possessions among them”: It is difficult to tell who exactly the “them” is. It does not follow to apply “them” to “one’s ancestors”, who are usually aged, if not dead. Is it possible this is a reference to The Antichrist’s blood relatives? I do not know.…

In the excerpt from Don’t Believe Everything You Think, Thomas Kida discusses the human belief system and the factors that influence them the most. He exemplifies how our beliefs may correlate to us making poor decisions when it comes to spending money and falling for quackery. Laslty, Kida highlights some major aspects of memory that many are unaware of- the fact that our recollection of past events are not always as accurate as we may believe, and that they are capable of fluctuating based on our feelings, mood, or environment. One of the points Thomas Kida made in this excerpt is the obvious yet so often overlooked fact that we are greatly influenced by the people we surround ourselves with and those we love.…

Pericles goes so far, as to convince the grieving families and members of the crowd that they should be proud of their sons, and he glad that they died at an opportune moment, “They know that this at least is gain- to meet an honorable end (as they now have) and to grieve honorably (as you do) for those whose lives were cut off at the fortunate moment” (Wills 255). Both ancient Greek culture and modern American culture share this idea of indoctrinating the people to believe in the nobility of patriotism, particularly in a final act of martyrdom. For all that indoctrination and brainwashing are negative and generally view harshly, as stated above it makes strategic sense. The Greeks in city states faced almost constant threat of potential invasion,…

Have you ever had a period in your life when you disagreed with the current events? You most likely have and if so, did you stand up for yourself? It’s important to stand up for your beliefs because if you don’t nothing will change, and when you stand up for what you believe you become very well respected. Headmost, you should stand for what you believe in because if you don’t nothing will change. I like the intelligent, canny, and brilliant definition of the word insanity made by Albert Einstein. Albert said, “ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.…

Within the room, I felt the passion of the people as Patrick Henry read his speech, but I also felt the anger of the ones who disagreed with the speech. As the speech was being read, I looked around and saw all the people in the room staring at Patrick Henry and witnessed the expressions upon people’s faces. There are many things in my life that i solely believe are worth fighting for and are worth risking many things in order to keep them around longer. I would sacrifice many things in order to be around my loved ones and have animals live a long and healthy life and being able to reproduce and not have to worry about any danger. Some of the sacrifices I may take for these things are taking a bullet or missing a limb. The first thing that I would fight for are the people I love. This may include friends, family,or people I care about in my daily life.…
