professional works with deaf-blind students and students who use AAC devices more than higher functioning students because of the SLP’s specialized training in those areas. As the professional is the only Speech-Language Pathologist in Assabet Valley Collaborative, all of the students in the Evolution program are seen by her. There are a multiple number of standardized and non-standardized tests that are administered to students. For higher functioning students, the Disability of Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) test is administrated. The DASH test is a developmental assessment for individuals with severe disabilities. All students are re-tested every three years to evaluate their performance. Another test that is administrated to students is the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF). The CELF examination assess receptive and expressive language. The CELF test also examines the relationship between syntax, morphology, semantics and pragmatics. The SLP also administers a Brigance Test. The Brigance test is a tool that is used in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade. As it is a standardized test, the Brigance test does not test the child’s IQ. This tests covers school based curriculum topics including language development and …show more content…
This test also assesses students with severe handicaps. The scale assesses motor development, daily living skills, language development, socialization, reciprocity, receptive and intentional communication and symbolic abilities. The Callier-Azusa Scale is observed by the administrator in a classroom setting along with parents and care givers of the child (Callier-Azusa Scale). The child must be under the age of 8 years old in order to be assessed. The scale can determine what development skills are missing and can show progress of the student in a classroom setting.
