Standardized Testing Should Be Closed

Albert Einstein once said, “The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The person who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever seen before.” This is a popular quote by a very famous person that many people tell their kids and students. If adults are telling young people to be themselves and go their own way then why should every student take a standardized test? Everyone wants to grow up and be something great. The only difference is that it is not the same occupation for everyone; some people like English when others like music. Nothing and no one should hold them back from what they want or what makes them happy. Standardized test do that to our young kids in school. They determine things like if kids get to move up a grade in school, if they can graduate, and colleges look at these exams to see if bridge classes need to be taken before the student can start. This is not fair for the students who struggle with exams, but are strong logically, because standardized tests cannot easily measure logic. This is happening to help students focus on what is on the standardized tests which greatly contain math, reading, and wighting. This is not beneficial for the students that would like to major in a history or music. They should be spending their extra time working on what they love. How can the younger generations be themselves when we are slowly decreasing the allowable creativity to only focus on the three major subjects. These tests are forcing the youth of our time to only memorize enough to pass, not truly learn anything. Many would say that is not unique or beneficial to encourage
