Many students today suffer from severe test anxiety, which is known to dramatically bring down test scores. Students who suffer from high anxiety when testing have been proven to score lower than the other students who feel little or no anxiety. A student taking a test in fear will not be able to focus correctly. Other students, who test without any fear, have a clear advantage against the anxious, unfocused student. No two people are exactly alike, meaning that people are clearly skilled in different areas of study. For example, if you give an art major a test on algebra, chances are he or she will do worse than a math prodigy. Does this prove that the person less intelligent? Of course not. They are simply skilled in a separate area than the other student, who is good at math. People do not share the same interests. Because of this, a student’s intelligence cannot be scored by a number on a piece of paper. Intelligence does not specifically refer book-smarts. Students can be easily mislabeled this way. A person’s true intelligence cannot be determined by one measly test grade because people are smart in different, unique ways, and they should not be limited to what they can
