Imagine you are studying for exams at your school when suddenly a gruesome beast traps you in a room. You try to escape, but your intellect can’t pass the beast. It forces you into a corner, and threatens your future unless you give it a little money. Without a choice you are forced to throw away hundreds and thousands of dollars into this beast. Multiple things including GPA, girlfriends, and more cause you stress, but this beast comes in and causes even more anxiety. We have or will have those weekends spent analyzing SAT and ACT textbooks, and we all know the anxiety it causes. In fact 3 out of every 4 psychologists agree that these standardized test cause major anxiety. As students ourselves, we know that our summers are all dedicated to preparing for the test rather than the content on it. We have spent thousands of dollars finding tutors and books to help guide us for this test. We are forced to give hundreds dollars for taking a mandatory test. And what do we get out of it? Simply the ability to continue my life. At the end of the day for college it doesn’t matter how high your GPA is, how strong your resume is, it only matters how well you do on these standardized tests. According to a MIT professor, most families invest 1000s of dollars on the SAT alone including tutors, supplies, etc. Not to mention that those who don’t invest in these standardized tests often find themselves performing worse compared to a person who did. Also, Can you believe that 1.7 billion dollars are spent towards printing books alone. We are killing lives people. It is about time we stop letting these major companies take thousands of dollars from our pockets. It is about time we stop letting these major companies inflict stress among our kids. It is about time that we stop killing the trees, and danger student’s futures. It is about time that the beast goes
