Standardized Testing In Schools

There are several ways to replace immense tests, although it seems as of lately educational systems make little to no strides to do so, as standardized tests continually find themselves embraced by elected officials in the past decades. Presently, with computer technology, it enables schools to easily grade substantial amounts of students at one time, through virtually taking the tests online. But, that’s the issue right there. A school system has become complacent and unwilling to make these efforts. Strides need forming to test students, in a way where they are fairly challenging academically, and may acquire long-term skills. When students graduate from high school, whether like it or not they will eventually need to interact with others, especially in college. In order to prep students for the ultimate collegiate success, school systems urgently need to instate required projects for students to work on corporately. The former superintendent, Joshua Starr, discusses how standardized tests consume the school system even claiming “Standardized testing can help show that the system is broken, but in a sense, standardized testing is the system” (Starr). Starr, who was a Superintendent for numerous years, even points out that yes, these tests are the issue, but they have been so heavily embraced in public school’s curriculum that our whole education system revolves around, and simply erasing it would be nearly impossible. There can be a compromise through this by limiting the role certain of standardized tests.
