Though with English you have critical thinking questions that need someone to review the responds. Without that person the results are flawed because a computer can only do so much. These can have a negative effect on the student scores. Resulting to not being able to graduation or just be promoted to the next grade. The thought that you went to school for 13 years to not being able to leave with your diploma but with a certificate of completion because of a test is a horrible feeling. A teacher go through evaluations based on how effective they are teaching the material to their students. The thing that are reviewed to determine that is test scores. This is linked to the way they are getting pay. Teachers are paid on merits meaning that they are paid off of the student performance. Merit pay is barely used anywhere in the workforce. Those teachers that don’t get the score are said to be underperformed and more likely to be fired. The reason why these is that way to motivate the teachers to perform well. Those teachers who are doing really well are more likely to receive a bonuses. So no grade no pay. The assumption that teachers have to constantly prove themselves that they can do their job
