Standardized Testing: A Qualitative Study

This study aims to shed light upon the strengths of using an alternative to standardized testing. Previous research on the Learning Record has shown a steady increase in student scores assessing reading and writing achievement. Additionally, educators engaged in the use of the Learning Record have stated that this method not only helps to encourage professional growth, but fosters a team approach to student learning, and aids in student reflection. Previous research on the Learning Record has left some unanswered questions regarding potential biases. This study hopes to further that research by using a population of students and teachers more normative, with regards to race, to the U.S.
