But there are a few arguments for a standardized curriculum I would like to discuss. The first argument for a standardized curriculum is within the ability to evaluate teaches easily. As an educational system, administrators must have a way to evaluate teachers in order to keep teachers striving for the next best way to teach. In Immanuel Kant’s Lectures on Pedagogy, Kant discussions on the idea of teachers needing to be better educated in order to teach to people under them. Kant uses the example of a prince teaching the town all of his knowledge. If a price is supposed to bring about education to all of the townsmen, then the education of the price must then come first (Cahn, 2012, p. 156-157). If the administrators are wanting to evaluate teachers, why do they not evaluate the teachers’ knowledge instead of a students’ ability to comprehend the material? If a teacher is not being able to educate themselves on better ways of teaching, then our educational system will stay at a standstill. The goal of a standardized education was to offer everyone the same opportunities in school. This means that every student should be evaluated the same and taught the same material, but with this come many flaws. No two students coming from different regions and demographic backgrounds will think exactly the same. Standardized curriculum does not take into account the differences within students, which is causing many students true abilities to not show.
