Your beliefs make you who you are, and if you do not stand up for them when they are under siege, then you show the true weakness of your values and the lack of courage you place in them. I for one am certain that abortion is morally wrong; however, I am also confident that any person has the right to decide their own fate, even if in doing so, they are ending the future of another. As depicted above, I believe that women and couples should always legally be able to undergo safe abortions because if someone wants or needs something bad enough, then they will find a way to attain it. With this being said, I have and will always defend my beliefs to anyone that questions them, especially about abortion, because I know that if I stay quiet and…

It took years of higher education to teach me that people speaking out is a good thing, even if the topic is not something I personally believe in or condone. When you are truly educated on a topic you learn to look at ideas from all different perspectives, this practice will either strengthen your personal beliefs or challenge you to think differently about a topic. Taking a Stand vs. Winning What counts more- taking a stand or winning? Taking a stand means more to our society today instead of winning simply because of all the determination, courage, effort and time they put into trying to make a difference. If the person were to try their absolute best and fail it is still extremely admirable for them to make the sacrifices they have made. Taking a stand shows that they will do anything in their power to stand by what they believe in not knowing what could happen to them or what they risk. Although both winning and taking a stand play a very important role in our society, taking a stand counts more because of the courage, compassion and thrive people have.…

Writing about this topic hits home to me,not because I was directly involved with this case it is because I have a younger brothers that would have fit the description of Trayvon Martin that night. It was not until the unfortunate killing of the young teen that I learned about the "Stand your ground" law. " Stand your ground law constitutes of a person presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent danger or great bodily harm to himself or another person, when using or threatening to use a defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or bodily harm" George Zimmerman claimed to say that he shot Trayvon in self defense, to me that excuse is not justifiable because there was no evidence that the young teen was carrying a weapon.…

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. Whether it is religion or personal preference, people like to have their opinions. People often force their opinion on others and think they should have the same opinions because they think their opinion is “fact.” Some people do not have an open mind to listen to or accept that others can have their own views on things.
