Stamp Act
On March 22nd 1765 the way the peaceful colonist lived would be changed. On that day, the Stamp Act was released. The Stamp Act was a law that was set to go into action on November 1st 1765. The Stamp Act said that every newspaper, legal document, liquor license, certificate, diploma, contract, calendar, almanac, wills, Bills of Sales and license be taxed. It affected all colonists and everyone showed resentment towards it. The colonists were outraged and did I not want to pay this tax. They felt it was unnecessary and that they were being taxed for ridiculous things. On the other hand the British Parliament thought what they were doing was appropriate at the time and needed the money. They taxed the innocent colonists for their money because the King needed money to pay for the French and Indian war. The british were defending the colonists in this war and took their money as payment. Although the Stamp Act had it's positives too many damn balls caused it to be resigned. It seemed like a good idea at the time to the British, but the colonists didn't have the same outlook. The Stamp Act was great for the British but not for the colonists. Some things that would've made the Stamp Act better would have been if the British had had more of a controlled government prior to the Stamp Act. That way if the colonists would have been more used to having Britain as an authority. Also if the tax more reasonable and fair the colonists might not have acted in such outrage towards it. In the end the stamp act, the law that taxed every piece of paper bought from by call in the end the stamp act, the law that taxed every piece of paper brought by colonists was thought to be helpful but some but hated by many. I believe that the act passed should have been more fair and that would've made it more desirable to
