The French and Indian war began on May 15, 1756. Another name for the French and Indian War is Seven Years’ War. The New World had a vast amount of land, and land equals power. Both the French and England wanted this land, to be the most powerful. The French, their colonists, and the French’s Native allies, fought against the British for land. On February 10, 1763 the French and Indian War had ended.The British had won the French and Indian War. The war was not without consequence though.
Although the British had won the war, it was very costly. Having to pay for soldiers and ammunition was expensive, especially when you’ve been doing it for seven long years. Britain needed to pay for it though taxing everyone. The British King George III had already taxed all of Britain, so he decided to begin taxing the colonies. His and Parliament's excuse was that they were only in the war to protect the colonies. Because they were the protecting the colonies, now they have to pay for that protection. Either the father would be discussing with and older son about a topic (the Stamp Act in this situation), or the father would be explaining the topic (once again, the Stamp Act) to his son that is too young to have much knowledge about whatever topic. During this time, many discussions would be about the Stamp Act. Stamp Act conversations were usually very heated, considering the dislike for the certain law that was passed. The men would discuss how angry they were about the tax. They would also talk about the fact that England was still trying to control them, even though they were about 3,400 miles away. This upset them a lot. A lot of conversations would end up discussing Great Britain. The colonies really did not want much to do with England, and England did not want much to do with the colonies. That’s just the way it was. Then England decided to come in and tax ALL of the paper products, which very much upset the colonies. The home discussions were not always one family speaking together, it also used to be at others homes, or in a town meeting. Usually if it was in a larger group, they would discuss plans of attack.
