Stalin Animal Farm

The novel, Animal Farm, is not just a story of farm animals behaving like farm animals. Rather, the tale gives us the view of what happened in the Russian Revolution, in the terms of the animals symbolizing specific groups and historical figures. George Orwell, in Animal Farm, criticized the violent events that happened under the dictatorship of Joseph Stalin. As Stalin’s allegory in the novel, Napoleon make horrible tragedies happen when the animals decide to revolt or question his actions and decisions- Snowball getting chased out by the dogs, the killing of the three pigs by the dogs, and the declaration of Mollie being a traitor. Orwell, uses these violent scenes to demonstrate and reveal to the readers the violent turnouts under the dictatorship of Stalin in the Russian Revolution. One of the violent scenes that contribute to the meaning of the novel is Snowball getting chased out of the farm. Snowball, representing Trotsky, was chased out by the dogs (secret police) in orders if Napoleon (Stalin). Orwell uses this scene as if to show the start of the injustices caused by Stalin and his idea of the secret police as Stalin did run Trotsky out in order for him to be in charge with the Soviet Union after the death of Vladimir Lenin. Mollie, the beautiful show horse, serves as an allegory for the middle class. Orwell uses her actions to judge the middle class of having selfish desires as they left at the start of the revolution in order to keep their wealth and property. Orwell, also shows how quick the people were to look and not trust Mollie as she didn’t want to give up anything as a violent scene as the animals went along angry looking for her when she was long
