Stage diving As a bus rolled down a hill rain splattered on the road, students of Edwardsville High school headed to their 12th grade trip to Niagra Falls. A faint sound of “Last Resort” by Papa Roach could be heard. Over the sound of Jacoby Shaddix screaming, Ben the kid listening to the song heard two football players talking about stage diving at a concert. Ben turned to Chase the varsity defensive end and said, “Hey you might want to be careful getting into stage diving. Normally it would be ok, but recently an artist went to jail after someone dove on stage.” Chase looked surprised that Ben was talking and about what he said. Chase responded with, “Who and what happened, why did he go to jail?” Ben said, “The lead singer of Goats

As the house lights are gradually lowered in the Glenelg Country School auditorium, the audience’s effervescent chattering falls to a hush and all that can be heard is one voice somewhere in the theatre, enchanting the audience. The spectators listen intently as the voice travels throughout the theatre, until suddenly, a single spotlight illuminates a middle-aged man sitting on a worn armchair playing the soundtrack of his favorite musical on his antique turntable. So begins Gelnelg Country School’s performance of “The Drowsy Chaperone”. Written by Bob Martin and Don McKeller and music by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the musical follows the story of an antisocial man as he provides hilarious commentary on his favorite musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone” while listening to its soundtrack on a record player in his quaint apartment. As the music plays, the show comes to life and emphasizes its nonsensical elements to satirize popular musical theatre.…

In his article, Stager compares biblical texts depicting sacred places, such as the Garden of Eden and Solomon’s Temple to the archeological evidence left by ancient cities of the past. Stager argues that, “in Solomonic Jerusalem, topography, hydrology, architecture, iconography, parks and gardens were all part of the sacred center patterned after celestial archetypes” (Stager 13). Meaning, all aspects of natural and manmade creations were centered toward the divine, serving the divine, and being near the divine. Temples were created to house deities and emulate features of the natural earth, such as mountains, which “linked heaven and earth (as axis-mundi)” (Stager, 1).…

Deanna, leggy, beautiful, and daring, came a long way from a rugged childhood and the time of liquor bottles aimed at her mother’s head. So said a Washington Post reporter in 2008, “Councilwoman Deanna Flin is a fresh face and a breath of fresh air in D.C. politics.” In the eyes of her colleagues (boozing old school boys with potty mouths and potbellies), she personified Hillary Clinton, the little engine that would, if she could, overturn the political status quo. “Too big for her britches,” said one, which struck Deanna as funny, but not in the ha-ha-ha way.…

One difference between stage sets for theater and settings for motion picture is that stage sets aren’t usually as detailed as settings for motion picture. Audiences can’t pick up on small details they’d be able to see in film. “The director…must generally work with fewer sets, one per act” (Giannetti 302). Stage directors are a lot more limited and must be conscientious about how their scenes will play out with the few sets they have. Whereas settings for motion pictures can have virtually any setting and the directors can add in small details because they know the audience can see them.…

Michael Kinsley approaches the issue with a strong mindset. The viewpoint he produces uses many valid points against the song “Cop Killer”. The song should not be acceptable by the media or anyone else. “It’s absurd to discuss Cop Killer as part of the ‘confrontation of ideas’ ‒ or even…

“A handful of moments I wished I could change, but I was carried away,” are the lyrics that remind a lot about myself. Growing up, and even about two years ago, I was insanely shy and did not talk much around people, friends, or family. The way I talked to people was in a timid, soft spoken way, which looking back, was awfully embarrassing. My friends and family would laugh at me because I could not talk well, and when I did talk, they acted as if I were a baby who just said its first words. With all of that nonsense going on, their idiotic response kind of made me not want to say anything anymore.…

To begin, we must investigate the term of ‘stage management’. As we look back into history, we can see that people who were what we know today as stage managers, did not have that title, however they performed a similar function in the theatre.…
