Ding Ding Ding! I wake up to the sound of my alarm, it is 8:30 in the morning. The city of New York is glowing. Snow is falling, kids are laughing, what a magnificent day to be alive. It is hard to imagine waking up to anyone but my fiancé. Ashton is tall and lean. He has dark brown hair, blue eyes and is everything I've ever wanted in a guy. Every day is a blessing to be alive. I walk into the kitchen to the smell of crispy bacon cooking. “Ash, I have a doctor’s appointment today. Can you run to the bank for me?” I request. “Sure. I have chosen Cancer as my favorite constellation because it is the sign I was born under. Latin for "crab", it is the dimmest of all the zodiac constellations and used to be the Sun's most northerly position in the sky. It is located in between Gemini (to its west) and Leo(to its east). It is best known among stargazers as home of Praesepe, an open cluster. Cancer is most well known in Greek mythology as the crab sent by the goddess Hera to help the hydra kill Heracles.…

    T. Jasmine (2009) discuses two important aspects of therapeutic communication- listening and exploring. Listening as a therapeutic communication technique demonstrates that the nurse is genuinely interested in the patient. When listening to a patient the nurse and nursing student needs to be aware of how their body actions are being portrayed. Posture, facial expressions, and eye contact can be perceived in a positive or negative way to the patient (para. 12). One of the viewpoints on listening mentioned in the journal is a reference from Stickley and Freshwater (2006) discussing how listening is something that the nurse needs to realize within themselves in order to improve communication skills: “listening to oneself and being constantly aware of ones own thoughts and feelings, posture and actions is vital in improving ones skills of listening to others” (Jasmine, 2009, para.…
