Staffing decisions can easily be classified as one of the most important decisions that a nonprofit organization will make. In order to do this effectively, nonprofits need to assess the framework in which their organization will be ran while being mindful of their mission statement. Bottom line, nonprofits rely on its personnel to execute their strategies and advance their goals. Peter F. Drucker states that “The quality of these human decisions largely determines whether the organization is being ran seriously, whether its mission, its values, and its objectives are real and meaningful to people rather than just public relations and rhetoric.” (Drucker, 1992).

This individual acts as a spokesperson on Know and Grow’s behalf and advocates for the mission. The president is held accountable to initiate a strategic plan for the betterment of Know and Grow and takes the lead in fundraising efforts. By modeling appropriate behavior, the president sets high standards for the board to conduct and intervenes if conflicts of interest or confidentiality issues arise. (Leaman, 2016). The vice-president’s most important responsibility is planning, developing, and enforcing policies on Know and Grow’s behalf to ensure that we uphold our core values and meet established goals. This includes the management of both employees and day-to-day activities presiding around Know and Grow. The VP is also engaged within the community and creates public awareness to make sure we are visible to those interested in assisting the program. (Friend, 2016). The secretary plays a critical role and is responsible for the management of Know and Grow’s important records. This includes maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring that all documents are readily available and safely stored, meeting all legal requirements such as bylaws, and updating documents as necessary to meet deadlines. As Know and Grow has developed relationships with parent volunteers, we were able to assess each individual based on emerging talents, various skills, and unique interests. This has since allowed us to place specific parents with individual youth for concentrated one-on-one tutoring, counseling, and relationship development. Parents’ motivators spiral from one common identifier. Know and Grow’s parent volunteers express a want to help all children learn and benefit through educational and sports
