Theoretical construct Based upon analysis of previous research, it is evident that research into compassion is less prevalent than compassion fatigue (Kagen, 2014). According to Gilbert (2005), compassion can be divided into two parts: 1) a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune and 2) a strong desire to help stop the suffering. The desire to help stop the suffering is what separates compassion from empathy. A plethora of research has identified that compassion is reduced when a person is continuously exposed to compassion inducing stimuli, known as compassion fatigue (Conrada & Kellar-Guentherb, 2006).…

In late 1990s, third-generation boot camps began to rise and are still used today. These camps incorporate drug and alcohol treatment programs and emphasize an aftercare component when individuals are released back into society (as seen in the Alabama boot camp program).…

This type of procedures goal is to reduce the rate of a behavior and for the student to engage in the target behavior less often. One example that the module gave in the differential reinforcement chart for DRL is a student is rewarded for limiting the number of questions she asks during reading to 3 (versus 8 at a time). This example is a positive behavior but is occurring more often than usual so by conditioning this behavior, the student will become accustomed to asking fewer questions as time goes on. This can be reinforced by a smile, head nod, or verbal praise to let the student know that they have fulfilled their goal.…

He proposed that it consisted of 3 subsections, a central executive, a phonological loop and a visuo-spatial sketchpad, these subsystems are then further fractionated. Logie (1995) proposed that the visuo-spatial sketchpad is divided into two components; a visual cache and an inner scribe. The inner scribe contains information on movement and spatial awareness.
