St Thomas Becket Quotes

For my Confirmation name I chose ‘St. Thomas Becket’ for a couple of reasons. I chose him because he was a great saint and mostly because “Thomas” is my dad's name. Thomas was born in London, England on December 21, 1118, and died in 1170. He was always one of my favourite Saints along with St. Matthew. St. Thomas Becket was a famous author and publisher. He was also an Archbishop of Canterbury and one of the most famous saints in medieval Europe. St. Thomas made a lot of quotes that are still popular today! One of his quotes is, “Remember the sufferings of Christ, the storms that were weathered... the crown that came from those sufferings which gave new radiance to the faith... All saints give testimony to the truth that without real effort, no one ever wins the crown”. Along with, “Many are needed to plant and water what has been planted now that the faith has spread so far and there are so many people... No matter who plants or waters, God gives no harvest unless what is planted is the faith of Peter and unless he agrees to his teachings”.

St. Thomas had some very important events in his life. One of the not-as important events is that he was an author/publisher. One of the very important events happened while he was an Archbishop. king Henry II wanted to take power of the

Thomas and Jesus had a lot of characteristics that I would like to develop. The first characteristic I would like to develop is “Forgiving”. Jesus and St. Thomas always forgave people who made bad choices even if those made them feel sad or sorrowful. I would want to develop that characteristic because I don’t always forgive someone even though I know I should. My second characteristic I would like to develop is “ Patience”. I don’t have much patience because whenever I am about to get something or I ordered something, I will get a little annoyed and always ask my parents, “When will I get it?”. Unlike Jesus who was alone in the desert for 40 days fasting(no

Thomas Becket became legendary to the English people after his heroic martyrdom. His greatest virtue, as designated by the characters in the Canterbury Tales, was his defiance in the face of insurmountable odds. Becket stood for the Catholic Church when threatened by the most powerful force in England, which was his best friend King Henry II. Even though he knew the consequences of his actions, he stood for what he believed to be right and challenged the authority of his majesty in England. As well, that defiance was rooted in his deep belief in God, thus his piety resonated strongly with the pilgrims who were on their way to revere him.…

The saint that I chose for Confirmation is Saint Rose of Lima. I chose Saint Rose of Lima as my saint because she was the first saint that I learned about. When I was little my grandma used to talk about how Saint Rose was her confirmation saint and how much that my grandma looked up to Rose when she was a little girl. I also loved how much Saint Rose cared about everyone that she met throughout her life. Saint Rose was raised in a Catholic family, but her faith grew stronger as she grew older.…
