I chose Saint Agnes of Rome, also known as Saint Ines as my Confirmation name. Saint Agnes was born in Rome January 28th, 292. She was born into a Christian family and from very early on, devoted her life to Christ. This included that she would remain pure and having Jesus as her only spouse. However, she was very beautiful and had many suitors who would pursuit her. Even though she lived in a time that Christians were being persecuted for their faith, Saint Agnes still followed her beliefs and proclaimed her love for Christ. There was one particular suitor who was not very happy when Agnes turned him down, and this was Sermpronuis the son of the prefect. After he proposed for the second time and still got rejected, his father, the prefect, went to condemn her to death. But fortunately, Agnes was a virgin and virgins were not …show more content…
In church there was a baptism and I thought that Father Pat had said Saint Agnes, pray for us. Even though I was informed by my father after church that he had not said Saint Agnes, I decided to do some research on her anyways because I thought, who knows, this could be a sign for my confirmation name. After looking into more of her life I thought I had a connection with Saint Agnes. Her whole life was about purity and she even became a martyr for that belief. In the 5th grade we all got artwork from Mr. Smythe to us explaining what our names meant. I was informed that my name, Katherine, meant pure in Greek. Agnes is also of Greek origin and also means pure or holy. She was also remembered as a lamb because in Latin her name meant lamb. This was one of the reasons to why I chose Agnes. She was also my about my age when she died for her beliefs. I find that incredibly brave and that is one of the many attributes about this Saint that I admire. She is a great role model and I like that I had a “holy spirit moment” that led me to choose her as my Confirmation

That Saint that I chose to be my model throughout confirmation and to base my Saint report on is Saint Michael the Archangel. The reason why I chose Saint Michael the Archangel is because he is the patron of grocers, soldiers, mariners, paratroopers, police and sickness. What caught my attention about Saint Michael the Archangel is that he is a patron of police and soldiers. Ever since I was little, I would always watch movies and TV shows involving police and soldiers because I admired them so much. I was inspired by their strength and bravery; fighting off bad people in the world who are harming others/causing trouble and risking their lives just to save others.…

My family moved to Meridian, MS from California when I was around six or seven years old. Since then, all the way up to the ninth grade, my mother took my sister and me to Saint James A.M.E.
