Being in the convent for her was still difficult to pray so she wanted to move away. When her convent found out about her plans, she was denounced from the pulpit and was told she focus on raising money for the current convent she’s in. The town quickly became against her just because she wanted to live a life of simple prayer, but Teresa went ahead and did what she wanted and put her faith in God. At the age of 51 St. Theresa put aside everything in her life and devoted all of her time traveling throughout Spain teaching in convents. However people in religious orders would often try to stop her teachings. Teresa of Avila is the patron saint of headache sufferers and writers. I think she is the patron saint of headache sufferers because throughout her life she has dealt with many different types of people from all over Spain. I think she was chosen to be the patron saint of writers as well, because throughout her life while living in multiple convents she has written many books. The struggles that St. Teresa has faced was being misunderstood and judge by others. Especially when she chose to leave her original convent to go live a life of simplicity and poverty. Along her journey of living a life devoted to God, the obstacle that she faced was her social life. Teresa would often drift away from God and prayer in order to expand her social life in which she would receive many compliments from people. Another obstacle she faced was the passing of her mother. St. Teresa was extremely close with her mother and to lose her at fourteen years old must have been a very difficult time for her.
