St. Stephen was an outstanding follower of God. St. Stephen was one of the first ordained deacons of the Church and is seen in many Christian theologies. In the Acts of the Apostles, a dispute between members of a Jewish synagogue and St. Stephen lead to many accusing the saint of blasphemy. After being reported to the religious officials, he was later condemned to death and was stoned. His behavior showed how his faith and love for God was truly holy, because he even began forgiving those who were taking his life while in the action of his stoning. Today, St. Stephen recognised as the first christian martyr.
A martyr of this time would be the great Father Ragheed Ganni. Father Ragheed was born in 1972 in Iraq. After studying in Rome, he was sent back to Iraq to serve his country as a Catholic priest. One night, after celebrating a mass, him and his 3 cousins, who were all deacons, left the church. Departing from the church, the 4 men were approached by a man. As the man approached the group of men, he looked at Father Ragheed and told him to shut down the church. Father Ragheed, confused, responded with a peaceful, “How can I close the house of God?”. Angered, the man pull out a gun and told them to convert to Islam or to die. Father Ragheed and the 3 deacons refused. They were shot and killed by the dangerous man, who put

First, our religion is no joke. We need to take being Catholics very seriously and allow God into our lives. Second, we need to stay true to our faith. What is the point of being a catholic if you don’t stay true to your religion? There is no point. If you truly believe in God, you have to believe in him and have faith in him every single day.
