St. Mary's Seven Deadly Sins

Each one of the seven deadly sins was committed on Sunday at the St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church bake sale. The seven sins that were committed were gluttony, pride, wrath, avarice, sloth, envy, and lust. The two sins that will be discussed are gluttony and pride. Gluttony shows how overeating can be wasteful and pride shows the admiration of one’s things. The members of St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Church are very sinful indeed. For example, one of the seven sins was pride, pride is believing that someone is better than someone else, also known as excessive admiration. One women specifically committed this deadly sin, and her name was Connie Barrett. Connie definitely believed that she was better than the other bakers at the bake sale, she brags about hour her treats are better then everyone else’s. She says “My cookies, cakes, brownies are always the highlight of our church bake sales, everyone says so” (pg. 190 paragraph 3). Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church bake sale, and that was gluttony. Gluttony is the overindulgence and overcompensation of anything to the point of waste. Another woman committed this sin and her name was Betty Wicks, Betty is a two hundred and forty-five pound women who eats to the point of waste. Betty says “Every time I go past Connie’s table; I just have to buy something. I simply can’t help myself me it’s so delicious” (pg. 190 paragraph 5). This shows how Betty eats something from Connie’s table every time she passes it. This is an example of gluttony because one simply does not need to eat a cookie, cake, or brownie every time you walk by someone’s table. It shows that she overeats because she simply does not need to eat the treats from Connie’s
