Citizens chose to attend St. Martin’s for different reasons and that is what makes up the university. Citizens are able to come as they are and figure out their own interests. For a citizen to belong and to support the community, they have more control when maintaining an interest, for example, maintaining a scholarship for sports or educational purposes. One of the reasons why I attend St. Martin’s was because I received the Deans Scholarship, and it is my responsibility to maintain the requirements. Furthermore, it should not only be students going to class and getting an education, but also being involved in service, clubs, or sports. Martin’s requires a person to adjust to a new environment, there are restrictions that could get in the way of assimilating. Beliefs and values will be tested or will be different compared to others, and this leads to alienation. There is a sense of division within the university; athletes associate with different athletes and international students affiliate with other international students. In addition, there are people that want to consume alcohol, smoke, and do drugs, but there are people that do not want to be exposed because they have other priorities. In this university, not everyone is Catholic and this university does not try to force religion upon anyone. Others came for different reasons, whether it is a small population, sports, religious backgrounds, but it should not hinder people from being who they truly are. There are cases where many people might not want to fit in or not finding something they are not, but either way, they end up becoming a place of their
