St Agnes was tortured for being a Christian in her time, it was against the law to follow Christianity. Although in Australia I can not go through what St Agnes did for being a Christian, many people around the world are still tortured, placed in jail and even murdered for simply being a Christian. A way that I can help is by writing a letter to the united nations raising awareness of the lack of freedom of religion around the world. I would ask them to work hard in the 6 countries that the American government marked as “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations. These countries include Iran, Burma, China, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.…

Life of Saint Cecilia is a medieval religious vita, in which Reverend Prosper Gueranger tells the story of Saint Cecilia’s martyrdom. Within this story Gueranger utilizes symbolism, Ambiguity, and paradox to create a story that would leave readers with the impression that the death of this saint is her reward for her life of servitude. This in turn lead the audience to believe that the path of Christianity is superior to Judaism or the religious path of the Roman’s. The violence and torturous methods the Romans used against Saint Cecilia as portrayed in her death would have also possibly repelled anyone on the fence about one 's own religion. The techniques used to portray Saint Cecilia’s demise and the persuasiveness each one had separately…

Keep in mind that during this time this was all illegal in some words; St. Cecilia was later arrested by Almachius who condemned her to be suffocated in the baths. She spent one night and one day in the horrible heats, but didn’t seem to be afraid of the fire it self. The executors saw how she wouldn’t burn so they decided to decapitate her but those results were also the same; She died three days after her decapitation. In 1599 officials exhumed her body and found she looked the same way as when she passed away and smelled like flowers.…
