“Dear young people, the church expects great things of you and your generosity. Don’t be afraid to aim high.”-Pope Francis. Catholic Schools Week is a celebration of Catholic Education in the United States. Here at St. Louise, we are built on faith, knowledge, and academics as our foundation.

St. Louise values knowledge. In each class, we learn different lessons and concepts so that any of the things we learn may be applied in real world situations. In Math, we learn about Inequalities, Functions, and Variables and Expressions and how Mrs. Williams shows examples of equations that can be applied in different situations. In LA, Mr. Chambers shows us different writing techniques to help us with any papers that we must write. Mr. O’ Connor teaches us about the history of the US and applies events in history to current events. In Science, we learn about different parts of our body and how to take care of it so that we can stay healthy. Mrs. Herridge teaches us the history of faith so that we may learn to live out our Christian values. Knowledge is very

Louise also values Service. Every school year, each class has a specific service project throughout the year. For example, in 1st grade, we had a coat drive for the homeless. In 2nd grade, we brought animal items for the Humane Society. In 3rd grade, we wrote cards and made little gifts for the kids at Ronald McDonald. In 4th grade, we brought books for a collection drive in 5th grade, we sponsored a godchild from NPH. Every day we would bring a money donation to give. In 6th grade, we donated food to Hopelink for the people at the food bank. In 7th grade, we raised money for Pennies for Patients to help kids who are diagnosed with leukemia and lymphoma. In 8th grade, we created our own service project. My service project was a jackets and blankets drive for the men at CFH (Congregations for the Homeless Shelter). Also we served food at Salvation Army. St. Louise is filled with many opportunities for

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Our Lady of the Lake College is a Catholic institution that was created in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who firmly believed that all of creation spoke volumes of God’s love for us. St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

“Look at this place, all of you,” Schäffer said to the others, observing the architecture at the front part of the school, “And examine the wonder of this place. Splendid as it is, every one of us can safely agree that it is gleaming beacon to one of those days when the Children’s Paradise was just beginning to make its appearance in the shape as it is to this day. Someday, and I am not sure when, but when the time will come for us to see the Children’s Paradise soaring higher than it ever had, I would like to see ourselves at the forefront of this renaissance. The rebirth of American Catholic Education, its sudden ushering of the Greater American Catholic School System did not end with the beginning of the Republic; nor did it end, when the Great Leaps Westward marked the beginning of the attempts made to expand both Programs all the way to the West Coast. It continues even to this day, for there is much that…

During our time associating with other Josephite schools from around Australia and New Zealand, we were able to reflect on the many qualities that Mary Mackillop and the Sisters of St Joseph possessed. Learning of the struggles that Mary Mackillop was faced with while attempting to do good for others allowed us to see that through passion, persistence, practical action and identifying possibilities, Mary and her Sisters were able to have a positive and lasting impact on those they encountered through the development of schools around Australia and New Zealand. Our involvement in numerous leadership activities during our five days in Sydney taught us that to be leaders in a Josephite school means to ‘Be of Good Heart,’ while living out the…

I woke up late and rushed to pack my suitcase, grab some cash, and make it to the airport in time for my flight to Montreal. My Uber driver was on point, getting me to FLL with time to spare. I breezed through security, grabbed some coffee, and jumped on the plane like a boss. Three and a half hours later, my flight landed safely at YUL. As I was going through customs I noticed that the officers were being especially invasive.…

Have you ever wondered what it was like in Canada with the first people well? I Have your answer I Went back in time to see them it was probably the most interesting thing I have ever seen and I’ve seen the dinosaurs and the future. The people of Canada are so interesting they build massive Longhouses and cool pithouses. They also make canoes from trees it is a really cool process. First, they cut down trees then they rough the hull and make the general shape this takes about half a year then they carve out the part you sit it and then they just sand things down to make it smooth.…

My passion to be a teacher in the Catholic school system has started a long time ago when I decided the teaching profession was for me. I was just coming out of my Catholic high school and I had made a decision to take a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, in physical education and biology with the end goal to become a high school teacher. It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success. " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.…

The job of a principal in any academic setting is a monumental task as students, curriculum, parents, teachers, faculty, legal issues, etc., all vie for guidance and attention. But I believe that the job of a Catholic school leader entails far more because I believe the profession of Catholic school leader is a vocation rooted in Christ. My role as a Catholic school principal is one of managerial leader, educational leader and most importantly as spiritual leader. It is my job to nurture a faith community that is built with relational trust and where my school can be transformed into a sacred place (Sergiovanni, 2015, p.12).…
