St. Jude Day School Observation Report

Decent Essays
At St. Jude day school I was a volunteer where I helped distribute the meals for the kids, give them snacks entertain the kids and clean up after. This day school is a church in neighborhood where many people use to put their kids in while they go to work. During the summer I would volunteer where there would be almost 50 kids in the summer camp. It was so chaotic at times.

I accomplished gaining great friendships with many kids and teachers that I could never forget. I visit these kids very often and I feel like I made an impact in their life even if it was for a short period of time. I also accomplished improving my persuading skills. This was very important to me you never know when you are trying to convince a 2yr old to stop crying and

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

The most important event I have accomplished would be when I won the position of Key Club president of the Southampton School District. It all started in September of 2014 when I took my first two steps into room 114. My life was changed. I walked into a room full of love and hope. The people who would later become my family were in a deep conservation about the ways they could change the world.…

I always feel great about volunteering. One of my favorite memories is when on of the moms used to always thank me for watching her little son Elijah. She was so kind to me, she did not have to be kind. She was going through a lot, and she took her time to be kind and have conversations with me. I have not seen her for a long time, but I remember her appreciation.…

As an Eagle Scout, I spent 10 years of my childhood life trying to get to the rank that I am. I joined the Boy Scout of America program in 2nd grade as a Wolf Scout. Throughout my year, I worked hard to become an Eagle Scout. Earning the Eagle Scout Rank is an impressive award that stays with you throughout your entire life. You learn a lot of things within the program; from the Scout Law to the Scout Oath, which teaches you how to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, kind, obedient, brave and reverent, how to tie certain knots, how to properly do basic first aid, how to swim and save someone from drowning, you learn a ton of skills that stick with you throughout your life.…

M6843876 I was not born into an abnormal physical environment. There is nothing about my appearance, my socioeconomic status, or the environment that I grew up in that, at a first glance, would make me appear diverse. However, I truly believe that I contribute to the diversity here at UW-Eau Claire. I have not only seen first-hand the way that many different people live, work, and learn, but I have made a conscious effort from the time I was young to immerse myself in it. Through this emersion I have gained knowledge, experience, and an increased ability to see things through more than one perspective.…

The most significant impact I have made at my high school has been through helping my fellow peers, generally through unofficially tutoring some of them. I do not think there is one instance that stands out more than the others because I always attempt to do something little everyday, be it explaining a broad concept or assisting another student in working through a problem on a review sheet. The most recent example was when one of my friends in my AP Statistics class, Shannon, sent me a text the night before a test, asking if I could help her understand some of the questions on the review sheet, which I responded to with, “I shall try my best”. When we met the next morning, thirty minutes before homeroom started, she took out the…
