John's University NAACP, I decided to continue with this organization and ran for Vice President. After winning the election, I remember the excitement and optimism I felt when the rest of the new executive board was elected. As the year began, unfortunately our current President resigned and I immediately assumed the position of President in early October. I was so nervous for this new position, realizing that I was now leading a collegiate chapter of a historic civil rights organization. However, my nerves soon turned into motivation and our chapter excelled that school year. As the President of the St. John’s University NAACP, our chapter rose in membership, exceeded capacity at our 108th Anniversary Dinner, presented an outstanding student with an Excellence in Activism Award, added three new committees and received an Outstanding Community Service
