St. Johns County economic activity is primarily tourism related. The county consists of beaches, riverfronts, and dozens of historical landmarks. This makes the county a perfect place to attract visitors. The county is dedicated on improving the development of its current businesses, so they may attract new businesses. St. Johns County prides itself on having a flexible business climate, diverse neighborhoods, and natural environments. St. Augustine is one of the three areas incorporated in St. Johns County (St. Johns County Quick Facts). St. Augustine is claimed to be one of the oldest cities in the nation (St. Johns County Quick Facts).

As mentioned earlier St. Johns County has a great balance between the economy, society, and the environment. This causes the county to be highly desirable to the surrounding communities. Also, another factor that helps a community to grow and prosper is their comparative advantage. This includes transportation facilities, educational facilities, created environment, natural resources, climate, labor force, and, leadership. The primary reason individuals move to an area is because of the labor force the community has. I believe St. Johns County has many of the comparative advantages; this is why the community has been so prosperous in many areas.

Over the past year “the industries gaining the most jobs were education and health services (up 47,100 jobs, 4.0 percent), leisure and hospitality (up 45,100 jobs, 4.0 percent), professional and business services (up 43,700 jobs), trade, transportation, and utilities (up 41,500 jobs), construction (up 30,100 jobs), financial activities (up 20,200 jobs), government (up 10,200 jobs), manufacturing (up 9,400 jobs), and other services (up 8,500 jobs)” (Korfhage "St. Johns County 's

Johns County has easy access to interstates, waterways, and airports allowing St. Johns County to offer a prosperous business climate. Over the past several years, the county has been one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. While the state growth rate has been just 17.6%, St Johns County grew 54.3% over the past 10 years. The tremendous growth seen in St. Johns County allowed the 2010 Census to insure up to $50 million in federal tax funds (“St. Johns County, Florida Business Climate”).
