UNBSJ has a large and beautiful campus with many interesting buildings, statues, pieces of art and nature; such as trees and lots of grass throughout the campus. It is a relatively easy campus to make your way around without getting lost as there are signs with directions wherever you look. During the winter months you can avoid the cold weather by using the tunnels that are connected to all the buildings on campus. When you enter the UNBSJ campus via the driveway the main parking lot is on your right hand side, it stretches all the way to the back on the campus; this is where the majority of the students and staff park on a daily basis. The parking lot stretches around the back side of the largest building on the campus, the athletic center. The athletic center is where you can find the gymnasium, the weight room, the locker rooms; as well as the security office on the upper level. Behind the athletic center is Saint John College where classes take place and directly across from the athletic center is the residence connected by a breezeway; the cafeteria and dormitory are both located in this building. Both of these buildings are located on the right side of the campus when entering the driveway. …show more content…

Miami Dade College was established in 1959 and opened in 1960 as Dade County Junior College. The original campus was located at the recently built Miami Central High School. The campus consisted of a portion of the school and an adjacent farm. In 1960, a facility was built on an old naval air station near Opa-locka Airport (known as Amelia Earhart field), which would soon become the College's North Campus.[4] The College enrolled African American students and Cuban exiles who could not afford other schools, becoming Florida's first integrated junior college.…

Does an HBCU offer an African American student more than a PWI? An HBCU, “is a Historically Black College or University, that was founded by our ancestors to educate us on our history as African-American descents.” Before HBCUs were a thing, African Americans were free slaves that were not allowed to get an education. This did not stop them from learning a way to read, write, and calculate math. The Philadelphia Quakers founded the Institute of Colored Youth, so the children will have the opportunity to get an education.…

Map analysis is to explain the details and characteristics of the map and tell exactly what type of map it is. There are several different types of maps; the type of map I chosen to analyze is a thematic map of Kentucky. I chose the state of Kentucky because that is half of my heritage. My Momma is from Kentucky and that is where the entire side of my Momma’s family is from and currently live.…

The starting points of Fordham University can be followed to 1839 when John Hughes, the Bishop of New York, purchased 100 sections of land at Rose Hill in the Fordham area of what was then Westchester County for $29,750. Notwithstanding, he said, "I had not, when I bought the site of this new college...so much as a penny to begin the installment for it." After a nine-month crusade the most cash he could raise privately was $10,000, thus he went to Europe on an asking trek to get the assets that he couldn't raise at home. The budgetary troubles that John Hughes confronted in beginning St. John's College are characteristic of the destitution of the New York Catholic group in 1841.…

Honestly, I am an undergrad student at MCPHS-Boston, and to tell you the truth, unless you are naturally intelligent, and/or willing to make big sacrifices and go through hard struggles, this college is not for you. I am not telling you this because I am not a hard working, unmotivated, or lazy student, who is angry at the school for receiving bad grades. It is more because I have experienced this school and have found out many things that would have made me not come here in the first place had I known before. The main thing that comes to mind here is that this school is ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY. Which is why they have such a high acceptance rate.…

I believe the best way to describe a typical TCNJ student is in one word - talented. Throughout my multiple visits at the college it’s never surprising to find someone on the lawn painting at a level to impress Monet or hear something amazing play coming from the windows of Mayo Hall. Out of all the schools in New Jersey my heart remains set on TCNJ because it’s an institution with a personality. There is a perfect balance of academics and opportunity that many schools are striving to achieve. The rigor of a class at TCNJ is worth every single ounce of effort in high school but even then there is no guarantee of smooth sailing and I am ready for a challenge.…

There is the convenience of the loft, all the way to the numerous restaurants found near the University Center. While most people go to these places to eat, others take this time to socialize with friends and strangers. One of the most unique establishments on campus is the Starbucks inside of Rice Library.…
