St. George's Core Value Analysis

Improved Essays
At St. George’s, we have something called core values, and one of those core values is resilience. We are taught to persevere when we find ourselves in difficult situations, and that’s exactly what we do. When we are faced with challenges, such as the challenge of waking up and getting ready, we do not cower in fear and run away. Instead, we actually push through the barrier and end up growing stronger from it. It’s important to overcome challenges because it can open us to new perspectives, and it helps us grow from the experience. A challenge is a roadblock. It limits our field of view, and separates us from what may be ahead. When facing a challenge, we don’t know what lies after it. It blocks our path and hides the rewards

Even though we are still reeling with the impact of what we have been hit with, we continue to encourage one another emotionally to look ahead, not dwell on the past.…

Albert Schweitzer once said, “One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity”. I believe I should be the recipient of the Bradley Hulse Memorial Scholarship because I have the desire and commitment to give back to my community, just as the founders of the amazing LEAD program did. Another reason why I think I would be an adequate prospect for this scholarship is because some of my best traits are persistence and my ability to overcome any challenge. An example of this would be when I moved to the United states, seeking to get better job opportunities and to escape from the violence and injustice Mexico has been facing in recent years.…
