St. Francis of Assisi and Education
My research paper is over St. Francis and his level of education, how he followed his message from God, and how he was a leader while he had his time on earth. I am an education major so I thought it would only be necessary to research about how great of a teacher St. Francis was with the very little education he had accomplished in a school setting in his lifetime.

First article talked about St. Francis’ early life. St. Francis of Assisi was born into a large, wealthy, noble family. St. Francis went to school as it was expected for wealthy families’ children. St. Francis attended an elementary type school that was run by priests in his

Francis got the answer he was looking for from God also. God told him to rebuild the Christian Church and to get rid of all of his old habits and life of luxury and to live a life of extreme poverty. He did just this and had 12 followers with him. (St. Francis of Assisi Biography) This is an example of how he was a leader- which in return he educated the followers of his how to give themselves up and their riches and live a life dedicated to God and the better of the world, which is what teachers also do. Teachers are to educate students on how to make society better for people and themselves. He was well-known and much respected because of his example on how to live a Christian life. Educators do the same thing, they must lead by example in front of students or else students won’t take them seriously when it comes to major subjects and events in life. They must be project themselves in a professional manner like St. Francis did when people started to doubt his well-being and doubt that he was actually sent by God to do the things he was …show more content…
Francis and wanted to be part of the new life he had talked about at a church in Assisi. (Credo) St. Francis wasn’t going to turn her down from following her spiritual aspiration. He guided her in the decision that she should cut her hair, change her clothing, and take on a life of poverty, penance, and seclusion. This is a great example to show that St. Francis was a great leader and educator. He educated and persuaded Clare enough to make her see that she wants to take on the same type of life as St. Francis and guided her on the steps it takes to succeed in becoming one of the Franciscan Order of Poor.

Unsurprisingly this way of life brought followers, who asked to be called Friars Minor, or “Little Brothers” (pg. 102). Francis and his way of life was approved by Pope Innocent III and there were three orders that served towards forwarding the cause. The first order were the men or “Little Brothers” the second were the women, who though they requested to own nothing and to be homeless, because of the gender roles of the time were required to live their chaste lives in supervised walls. The third order were the…

She took notice of Sister Mary Suzanne and Sister Mary Bernadette with their hoods of white and robes of black, two Maryknoll nuns who acted as missionaries to “go into a country, with knowledge of its language, and convert its people to the Catholic faith.” (Wakatsuki Houston, p. 42 of 209) and also care for the orphans where they stayed. She talked of how despite having a Buddhist shrine in the house and celebrating a few holidays with religious ties, her family did not actually attend services. Her interest lay in the saints and martyrs the Maryknoll nuns told stories of, no form of schooling was set up and thus her days were filled with the tragic tales. Once her father returned, he voiced against her attending the church and a bout of sunstroke broke her routine of traversing between her home and the Maryknoll…

Throughout his years of life where he found God, he held his virtues very close to him because these allowed for him to do God’s will and help those who needed it. As Francis began devoting his life to God, he began to create and learn virtues that followed God’s teaching. Francis only wanted to do what was right and good to all of God’s people. Near his earlier stages of his religious life, he followed God’s orders of rebuilding churches that were wearing down. As he continued to following his virtues of following God and listening to him, he did nothing but good to those around him.…

The essay “Dumb Kids' Class” falls under the personal essay it’s written from the author´s individual experience. It wouldn´t be able to fit under any one of the other essay categories depending on how the essay is interpreted by the reader, it could be any of the three groups of essay categories. I personally interpreted this essay as being a personal essay, the author wrote it as it spoken directly to the reader from it being his personal experience. At the beginning the author gives his opinion about how the Catholic school was not all for him, as for other kids, and it isn't as bad for others as some. “Astonishingly, was never struck by a nun or molested by a priest.”…

“A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints.” This powerful quote by Pope Benedict XVI really made me reflect on the countless people that throughout my years at St.Didacus have wanted exactly this for me. Not only demonstrated in the school , but the parish community as well. We hear the word “community” so much from preschool to 8th grade, however, not until now do I feel the power of the word.…

It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success.
